Personality:

Gladio is someone who knows without a doubt what his purpose in life truly is. It is his unerring faith in the relationship between his family and the royal lineage that allows him to be so sure and confident. As long as the king is doing his duty, Gladio knows that he is fulfilling his own.

This is the cause for some cognitive dissonance when he is faced with the realization that he isn't going to be able to protect Noct from everything. When he is beaten in a test of strength, we see how proud Gladio really is. He says nothing, but the deep conflict he is dealing with compels him to set out on his own to prove himself. This isn't a blind grab for power, but an internalized drive to constantly better himself and those around him.

This philosophy of always pushing the limits and improving causes some friction in the group. Gladio waits for no man, fully expecting every member of his party to be able to keep up and hold their own. The people that he cherishes, he holds to a higher standard, which means that he isn't the greatest when it comes to sensitive emotional topics. Gladio is not afraid to tell it like it is, no matter how inappropriate the time may be, and Noct tends to get the worst of it. Because of this, it can sometimes seem like Gladio is cruel and unfair, but his no excuses philosophy truly does come from a place of love – unbending, unbreaking, unconditional, eternal love that defines him as a person and motivates him in everything that he does.

Despite being set in his ways, Gladio is genuinely good with people. He has very good manners (most of the time), a great sense of humor, and has a tendency to make instant connections with strangers. His innate curiosity means that he is constantly asking questions and exploring the world around him, and he has a great head for details -- especially when he has Ignis to bounce information around with.

Abilities and Nerfs: Gladio is The Tank, meaning he is very strong and his endurance is very high. He has been known to pick up columns taller than he is, and can swing a knight in full armor around like a ragdoll. A lot of his power, however, comes from Noct, and Gladio isn't the sort of person to fight unless there is some imminent threat to Noct, so I don't see this actually coming up much at all.

Appearance: Gladio is Fucking Huge. Standing at 6’6”, he looks down on mostly everyone. He has the physique of someone who has trained his entire life, so he is solid and strong and more than willing to show off all the hard work he's put into his vessel. His dark hair is long and worn in a ponytail, and he has light amber eyes. There are two scars across his face, one that runs down his left eye, the other a straight line over his brows.
